Orthodontics
Don’t you like your teeth, are they not aligned?
Let us help you and show your best smile. You can also avoid problems associated with poor dental position.
Orthodontics is the speciality of dentistry that is responsible for preventing and correcting alterations in dental position and between the jaws. It is therefore not only responsible for aligning teeth, but also for correcting alterations of the jaws, the face and above all disorders in the chewing function.
The right age to treat malocclusions varies depending on the type of problem and its severity. Although it is true that the majority of treatments are carried out once all the permanent teeth have erupted, between the ages of 10 and 14, some treatments need to be carried out at an early age, between 6 and 8 years old, to prevent the malocclusion from worsening. It is therefore recommended that, whether or not the problem is detected, a check-up by the orthodontist should be carried out at least at the age of 6. You can request your appointment here.
It is very important to know that during the duration of orthodontic treatment you must maintain exceptional dental hygiene as many braces allow food remains to remain and bacterial plaque to accumulate which can attack the teeth and cause them to become decalcified, therefore it is important to prevent this from happening. Brushing should be at least three times a day and especially if you have eaten something sweet or sticky.
Orthodontic treatments can be interceptive or corrective.
In addition to creating a beautiful smile, aligning teeth with clear aligners has other advantages: People will hardly notice that their teeth are being aligned, without wires or metal brackets, removable for total oral hygiene.
This treatment offers the same effectiveness as a traditional fixed treatment and the duration will be evaluated by our professionals. It is a discreet and flexible treatment, which requires less time in the dental office. Contact us.
Corrective treatments are necessary when interceptive treatment has not been carried out or when the result has not been sufficient due to the magnitude of the malocclusion. It is, therefore, aimed at correcting an already established malocclusion. This type of treatment is normally carried out from the age of 10 or 12. Both removable appliances and fixed appliances (brackets) can be used for corrective treatment.
Indications for fixed appliances (brackets)
The placement of brackets is indicated in cases where dental malposition, crowding, rotated teeth, diastemas (spaces between teeth), etc. are observed.
Interceptive treatments are generally carried out in the primary or mixed dentition and are indicated for incipient malocclusions that would worsen if left untreated. There are some malocclusions caused by habits that can be corrected on their own when the habit ceases, but others require orthopaedic treatment, even with simple appliances.
